BEHIND THAT CARD
Yes indeed, a Happy Valentines day to you.
How many million cards do you think are being sent today?
According to analysts, the greeting card industry
will be a $30.4 Billion generator by 2015.
Interestingly, greeting cards are considered a
subset of the stationary business.
There in are seeds of concern.
Electronic greetings would seem to be a challenge.
But according to another analyst one of the major
greeting card companies does less than $100 Million
in electronic sales as compared to the 1.6 Billion in annual company revenues.
It is said that two-thirds of all Americans have
purchased and sent a greeting card at one time or another.
In our family however we have a long tradition of
making the card, regardless of occasion.
How ever you express it, or receive it, we hope
there is a sense of love in your Valentines day.
VINE UPDATE
About that mysterious and rapidly growing vine I posted
yesterday, I should have checked with my daughter Katherine. The naturalist, permaculture designer and land management expert that she is, informed me it is
Cape Ivy, also known as German or Italian Ivy.
We (Jan) had our Valentines Day in Ojai, with room, dinner, wine (plus breakfast on Sunday) and a stop at the Farmer's Market and a nursery on the way home (she bought an orange tree) I am hesitant to add up the bill.
ReplyDeleteNice photos, Thomas. That pink cloud layer in the sky looks like a Valentine heart.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. When Mrs. C and I lived in Oxnard we used to drive to Ojai to visit a bookstore called Bart's Corner. They left books outside on the honor system when they were closed. I wonder if it's still there. I seem to remember a famous restaurant called The Ranch House where you ate in a garden setting with heaters to keep you warm. Happy Valentine's Day.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments. California offers great venues for Valentine's Day-or any other romantic outing.
I loved seeing Lana's Ladies as well as the breathtaking photos
