LIKE NOTHING YOU'VE SEEN

We start with a warning. Some of this may give you the creeps, but that is probably the intent.

Spread over 4 acres of an estate near the "movie colony" section of Palm Springs-the homes of the stars who put Palm Springs on the map-is RoboChristmas 2017.
All of this is the work of artist Kenny Irwin-who lives amidst it. He began this creation in 1986 when he was 12. It is considered a futuristic Christmas is a parallel universe.
I think Irwin must dream in a Tim Burton framework.
Warning 2-aside from giving you those kind of dreams,
there are a lot of images here. View carefully. Enjoy.

As you can see, Kenny Irwin is an inventive recycler as well.
I barely scratched the surface, there is a lot to take in. Do you have a favorite scene?

   See you down the trail.

  1. Irwin has a bit of thing for old vacum cleaners and commodes...I like it and I'm glad I don't have to pack it after the season.

  2. Incredible! Phantasmagorical too --if that's a word. I have only praise for Mr. Irwin's efforts, and only pity for any realtor who tries to sell the place. However, to me, the freedom of expression and community contribution is worth it. A true artist lives there.

    1. Phantasmagorical works for me! I'm impressed by his ability to use normally discarded items.

    1. I think it's been recreational in California for a few decades. Now it's taxable.

  4. Invite him to do an alternative Christmas market in Cambria. That would stir things up a bit!

    1. How would the CCSD vote on that option? Yes, stir it up it would.

  5. Damnedest thing I've seen in the genre. Is it open year round? It's funny how obsession can manifest, eh? Thanks, good photos.

    1. Mike, I think it is open, sans lights, a couple of times a year for a walk through the grounds. It is also on a bus tour of Palm Springs, as much of the work is viewable from the road.

  6. We drove past this property when we were in Palm Springs a few months ago. It wasn't set up for Christmas but there was still plenty to look at.
