THE WEEKENDER-YOUR PROFILE

WHO ARE YOU?
WE KNOW.
Frequent readers may recall my cautionary concerns about the surrender of information autonomy to convenience, communication and the aggregating power of algorithms.
As an aside in this battle, I'd prefer to write the word, rather than have the spell check, auto write function fill in or begin to assume the word I wish to say. But this is the age of information warfare and collateral damage comes in many forms, so we all soldier on. Hopefully, wisely.
Well, this is The Weekender and we try to keep the mood light and entertaining, so it is in that vein we bring you this video beware.  It's a pitch, but the message makes sense.
A PARTING BITE
A leftover of sorts-an image in this case-from a
Friday Lunch Flash Mob treat.
A Hearst Ranch all beef foot-long hotdog, Sebastian style.
Have a great weekend. See you down the trail.

THE WEEKENDER-RECALLING

FRAGMENTS
Sometimes a piece of a tune, a hint of fragrance or a glimpse is enough to put you on memory lane.

FRIDAY LUNCH FLASH MOB
AT THE CLOSING OF THE YEAR
What's a cloudy cool day among friends?
THE YEAR IN PICTURES
A favorite task in the newsroom was to review the work of our photo journalists, to find the images that told of a year.  Here is the year reconstructed by images from shooters at Reuters. I suggest you watch this full screen.
Enjoy your weekend and the reminiscence.
See you down the trail.

THE WEEKENDER :) JUST FOR FUN

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING
Perhaps you've read recently that the system you are reading this on, and the technology base of all of our computing may be rapidly out of date.
Apparently designers are close to building processing technology, chip high rises if you will, that will accelerate computing time to near warp speed. We are told the glue that is required to hold chip circuit boards in a vertical stack has been improved and there could be exciting news in the near future.  Of course that would mean all of our current technology will become slow, glacially so, by comparison. But in that cloud is the silver lining of potential business opportunities.
In the meantime I am fascinated by how creative minds are putting current technology to use. Here's an example.
It is a presentation made at MIP, a production and media trade show held in Cannes France.  When I was ceo of a television and media production company I made twice annual trips to this event.  It is a place where you see cutting edge uses of technology.  Enjoy this wonderment with IPads.
Thanks to my friend Will Murphy for spotting this
and sending it along.

THE CAMBRIA LOCAL
An apology upfront. This is just plain silly season stuff.
It was in the mid to upper 70's under brilliant blue skies
and the Friday Lunch Flash Mob was out in force enjoying a perfect day.
"Oh, look at all the crows", someone said.  "I wonder if
they'd like some of this extra food", someone else offered.
Well, before long it was show time.
I hope wherever in the world you are, you can
find some reason to smile this weekend.
BTW, the same Will who tipped me on the IPAD display has requested a longer Pacific Moment.  That's coming
next week to LightBreezes.
       See you down the trail.

THE WEEKENDER :) AMUSEMENT, SUNSET AND A SUPER HERO

FOR YOUR AMUSEMENT
Looks like a spring weekend is shaping in a lot
of the US.  If you are not stuck to the NCAA games, or
active outside, here's a little wonderment to put a
smile into your weekend. It'll also work on your
language skills.
DAY BOOK
FOLLOWING A SUNSET

It is mind boggling to think this incredible show with amazing effects is free, every evening.

THE NEW KID & THE NEW RAIN SEASON

HELLO HEMINGWAY
The family has grown by one.  Our new rescue adoptee
has joined us.  Hemingway is a polydactyly-a six toed cat.
When you visit the Ernest Hemingway home in Key West
you'll likely see several six toed cats. I'd never seen
a polydactyly until we were there.  Cindy at the HART rescue center named this little cutie after his "cousins" in Key West.
So now we have a socialization process to observe
as this rambunctious and high energy little guy
gets to know his older brother Luke and Nesta the
old gal and reigning fussy Queen.
Here he makes his first journey outside.
Look at those paws.

"Big" brother Luke naps as he watches over the little guy.
Dinner hour has gotten more complicated.

Luke still maintains proprietary rights to making sure
the food tin is clean to his inspection standards.
THIS WILL LEAD TO GREENING
Almost a half an inch of rain over night, accompanied by  thunder which most people noticed, though some of us
snored through it.  We had a splash in October, but
now we may get a couple of rains in the next week and
ranchers, farmers and gardeners are ready.
It cleared as the Friday Lunch Flash Mob assembled
below the castle, joined today by nearby steers.
The post rain views were pristine.

The old William Randolph Hearst storage buildings
played in the sun as well.

See you down the trail.

FOLLOWING THE SURF & "FANCY" TABLES

SUPER SWELLS
(Cambria, CA)  Good breaks and unusual swells have brought surfers to the waters of the north coast of San Luis Obispo County.
"Some of these guys have been following these swells
from the South Pacific," a lip coated and hoodie wearing surfer from South Africa said.
         "These are super swells!"

A crowd of surfers were in the water near Leffingwell Landing on the north end of Moonstone Beach.  It can be a
tricky spot to work the waves.

Skill was evident as they worked the crowded waters.
Aside from the breaks and swells more surfers maybe working the north coast, because a great white was spotted
near the pier at Pismo Beach.
DRESSING IT UP
Since the Friday Lunch Flash Mob has overgrown the deck and moved to the picnic area, we've started to dress
up the picnic tables with table cloths.
Most Cambrians always travel with "wardrobes"-vests, jackets, sweaters, caps and shorts because you often need more or less clothing.  Now the Flash mob is traveling with table cloths.  You know, you just need to be ready for a party or meal to break out.
See you down the trail.
