I have been blown away by the articulate and reasoned voice of this generation, who we have seen and heard since Parkland.
Local media said some 7,000 people were expected at the march and rally in San Luis Obispo, a city of 49 thousand.
The signs say it all.
The local students were stunning in their candor, power, eloquence and force.
I've covered protests and rallies since the 1960's and I've rarely been as impressed as I was today. These kids give us hope.
See you down the trail.
I sat here and watched the entire DC event. Emma Gonzalez was incredible, they all were. Jennifer Hudson (lost her Mom and brother to guns) singing Bob Dylan's "The Times They are A Changing" with a choir of high school kids was a stunning close. Have to admit, this old bastid's eye misted more than once. So damn proud of my grand kid's generation.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Cuba, so I missed the march/protest. But people here were talking about it. The NRA's time has come, as well as legislators at every level who pander to the NRA. IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO STOP THEM, BUT IT'S TAKEN TOO LONG.
ReplyDeleteEven in a red state like Montana, at least 4 cities had large protest marches. In Helena there were around 1,000 kids and adults marching. A counter march for 'gun rights' drew around 150 according to the Helena newspaper. There is hope indeed.
ReplyDeleteLots of rage out there. Let's hope it manifests itself on November 6th.
